Patrick Mahomes trolls Travis Kelce over horrendous first pitch

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce threw a horrendous first pitch at the Cleveland Guardians game and quarterback Patrick Mahomes trolled him for it.

High-profile stars whether that’s in film, music, or even in other professional or collegiate sports sometimes get the opportunity to throw out a first pitch at a baseball game. But in the age of social media, they have to make sure they throw at least a decent pitch, and not enter the 50 Cent and Conor McGregor tier of first pitches (i.e. terrible throws).

Unfortunately for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, he has entered that tier.

On Friday, Kelce threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Cleveland Guardians ahead of their game against the Seattle Mariners. Kelce is a native of Cleveland Heights, after all.

Kelce winded up for the pitch, intending to throw it to home plate into pitcher Shane Bieber’s glove. Instead, it bounced well short and Bieber had to dodge it. Kelce ran over to apologize to the Guardians ace.

Not only did the entire internet see Kelce’s first pitch, but so did his teammate in Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. First, the Super Bowl 57 MVP replied to a video with a bunch of laughing-crying emojis. Then, in a separate tweet, he tagged the Kansas City Royals, asking them “let’s give him another chance. ASAP!!!”

Well, Kelce was a really good sport about the situation. He sent out a tweet, saying, “been spiking a football for the past 10 years…can you tell?”

Kelce did spike a lot of footballs this past season, as he scored 12 touchdowns, the second-most by any player in the NFL. Not to mention that he did catch 110-of-152 targets for 1,338 yards. In Kansas City’s three playoff games, including the Super Bowl), Kelce recorded 27 receptions for 257 yards and four touchdowns on 31 targets.

With just months to go before the 2023 regular-season, we shall see if the Royals do take Mahomes advice and allow Kelce to redeem himself on his first pitch.
