Buffalo Bills get huge update on Von Miller knee injury

The Buffalo Bills didn’t have to wait long to get somewhat encouraging news on the extent of Von Miller’s knee injury.

Thanksgiving didn’t leave Buffalo Bills fans feeling very thankful.

Thursday’s matchup in Detroit wasn’t the bounceback game many were expecting to be, rather it was a hard-fought battle that went right down to the wire. It wasn’t exactly a case-building game for the Bills, who have hit a skid in the second half of the NFL year after dominating the AFC the first few months of the season.

Losses to the Jets and Vikings sunk the Bills in both the AFC Playoff Picture and the AFC East, with Buffalo bottoming out in third place in its division. The loss to the Vikings, coupled with hot streaks by the Chiefs and Dolphins, cost the Bills control of the No. 1 seed in the AFC and dropped them to the Wild Card.

Things didn’t go much better on Thursday. Beyond the subpar performance, the Bills lost star pass rusher Von Miller in the second quarter of Thursday’s win over the Lions. Miller appeared to get his foot stuck in the turf at Ford Field and while he was able to walk off under his own power needed to be carted to the locker room after further evaluation.

Latest Von Miller injury update gives Bills fans some hope

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Bills are already hearing some encouraging news regarding the severity of Von Miller’s injury.

Source on Bills Von Miller’s knee injury [is] ‘cautiously optimistic’ he avoided major damage in the Lions game but Monday’s tests will reveal the extent,” Fowler reported.

Miller has been a game-wrecker for the Bills, and losing him would be a potentially fatal blow to Super Bowl aspirations in Buffalo. He single-handily won them games this year and has been a force that has made Buffalo’s already brooding defense even more dominant.

He was seen postgame NOT on crutches, which is a massive update.

Had Miller torn his ACL on Thursday — which is what happened to Green Bay Packers pass rusher Rashan Gary when he played on the same Ford Field turf earlier this season — the blow would have been devastating.

A knee sprain isn’t ideal, but it would mean Miller would miss some time this season rather than the rest of it.
