Best Thursday Night Football same game parlay for Jaguars vs. Jets

If Jeff Bezos actually watches football, then he might’ve thought he was getting screwed with this Thursday Night Football game when the schedule came out, but it turns out that the Jacksonville Jaguars (6-8) visiting the New York Jets (7-7), three days before Christmas has massive playoff implications.

The Jaguars are still in the race for the AFC South and the Jets are just barely on the outside of the AFC playoffs looking in. Here are the odds for this matchup at Metlife.

To add to the excitement, we’ll get to see the No. 1 pick from the 2021 NFL Draft against the No. 2 pick, but I don’t think there’s anybody questioning if the Jaguars made the right decision.

Zach Wilson was benched earlier in the year, but an injury to Mike White has brought him back onto the field. Meanwhile Trevor Lawrence has been lighting the world on fire and carrying Jacksonville into contention. We might want to back Lawrence tonight even against New York’s great defense.

If you’re looking for a best bet or a pick against the spread, Betsided’s Ben Heisler on The Jet Press. Here I’ve put together a four leg Same Game Parlay, hunting for a big payout with an SGP.

This four-leg parlay pays out +520. That means a $25 bet would pay out $130.02 at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Best Same Game Parlay Picks for Jaguars vs. Jets

  • Jaguars +7.5 (-290) vs. Jets (alternate line)
  • Trevor Lawrence Over 12.5 Rushing Yards (-113)
  • Evan Engram 25+ Receiving Yards (-320)
  • Zach Wilson Over 197.5 Pass Yards (-113)

Jaguars +7.5 (-290) vs. Jets (alternate line)

The Jaguars had a dud of a game against Detroit three weeks ago, but they’ve won three of their last four games all against teams currently slated to make the postseason and it no longer seems like a fluke. In the blink of an eye, Trevor Lawrence has become a reliable star at quarterback that can keep his team in the game no matter who is on the other side.

Lucky for Jacksonville, Zach Wilson is on the other side and no matter how good Robert Saleh’s defense is, I don’t see Wilson winning this game, and certainly not by more than a touchdown.

Trevor Lawrence Over 12.5 Rushing Yards (-113)

Lawrence isn’t a bad runner either. The pass rush for New York is scary, they generate a top five pressure rate in the NFL and blitz the least of any team, that’s a perfect recipe to stop a passing attack. However, I think there will be a few instances where Lawrence is flushed out of the pocket and nobody breaks open downfield, so he’ll run for five or six yards. He’s gone over this total in seven of his last 10 games.

Evan Engram 25+ Receiving Yards (-320)

The Jets don’t just have a great defensive front, their secondary is lock-down especially on Sauce Gardner’s side of the field.

Last week, Jared Goff didn’t target Gardner one time all game. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Kalif Raymond, and Brock Wright were Detroit’s leading receivers in that game. Both St. Brown and Raymond run a majority of their routes from the slot and Wright is a tight end.

Lawrence is going to have to look over the middle of the field to move the sticks and that’s right where Evan Engram has excelled lately.

Zach Wilson Over 197.5 Pass Yards (-113)

Do I think Zach Wilson is a good quarterback? No, I do not. However, I don’t have much love for Jacksonville’s passing defense either.

They’re bottom five in the league over the past three games in passing yards allowed and Wilson threw for 317 last week.
